The Delta Region Aids Education And Training Center is a national coordinating resource center that provides training and technical assistance to HIV/AIDS service providers in the southern United States. The center is one of eight regional AIDS Education and Training Centers (AETCs) funded by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.

The Delta Region AETC offers a variety of educational opportunities for health care professionals, including online courses, webinars, and in-person workshops. The center also provides resources for HIV prevention and care, such as an online provider directory and a series of fact sheets on topics related to HIV/AIDS.

The Delta Region AETC serves Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands, and Washington D.C.

The Role of the Delta Region Aids Education And Training Center:

The Delta region Aids Education and Training Center (AETC) is one of eight centers funded by the Ryan White HIV/AIDS Program and the Health Resources and Services Administration. The mission of the Delta AETC is to increase capacity of health care providers in the Delta region to provide high quality, culturally competent HIV care. The vision of the Delta AETC is to end the HIV epidemic in the Delta region through prevention, education, training, and research.

The Delta region includes Alabama, Arkansas, Illinois, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, and Tennessee. TheDelta AETC provides educational opportunities for health care providers through a variety of modes including face-to-face workshops; online courses; webinars; distance learning; and print materials. Educational offerings are designed to meet the needs of a variety of learners including physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, nurses, dentists, pharmacists, social workers, case managers/care coordinators counselors/therapists ,and other allied health professionals.

In addition to educational offerings ,the Delta AETC also provides technical assistance (TA) on various aspects related to providing high quality HIV care. TA services are available to all Ryan White HIV/AIDS Program -funded entities in the eight states served by the center .Examples of TA services include but are not limited : developing or updating policies and procedures related to HIV testing , linkage to care , retention in care ; conducting site visits with feedback provided on best practices for providing patient-centered medical homes ; providing individualized consultation on electronic health record implementation ;and much more .

The role of the Delta Region AIDS Education And Training Center is threefold: 1) To provide educational opportunities for healthcare providers in order that they might better understand how to provide quality care for patients with HIV/AIDS; 2) To serve as a resource for those same healthcare providers so that they might have access to information about best practices when it comes to caring for patients with HIV/AIDS; 3) And finally ufffd perhaps most importantly ufffd To work towards ending the spread of HIV/AIDS in communities throughout the entire delta region by way increased awareness amongst at-risk populations and provider training & support around evidence-based prevention strategies.
