What is bcmtms?
BCMTMS is an acronym for “Board Certified Music Therapist – Supervisor.” A BCMTMS holds a master’s degree or higher in music therapy from an accredited institution and has passed a national board certification exam administered by the Certification Board for Music Therapists (CBMT). In order to become board certified, music therapists must complete an internship as well as continuing education requirements. The title “supervisor” indicates that the music therapist has met additional requirements set forth by CBMT and is authorized to supervise music therapy interns working towards their own credential.
Our Mission
The mission of the BCMTMS is to promote excellence in pain management through education, research, and advocacy. We are a interprofessional organization committed to improving the lives of people with pain through evidence-based treatments.
We offer a wide range of educational programs for health care providers and the public, including online courses, live conferences, and webinars. Our research initiatives include basic science, clinical studies, and epidemiological investigations. We advocate for policies that improve access to effective pain treatment and support public awareness campaigns to reduce the stigma associated with pain.
Whether you are a patient suffering from chronic pain or a health care provider looking to expand your knowledge about best practices in pain management, we welcome you to join us in our quest to improve the quality of life for all those affected by pain.
